Hi, so let’s talk about being a social media influencer.  I’m new to this circle I fit into the category that is recognized as a micro-influencer, this is based off of the number of followers you have.  Lets break it down by name and followers… 

Mega-Influencers: this is an influencer that has over 1 million followers on at least one social media platform. Many mega-influencers are celebrities who have gained their fame offline – movie stars, sportspeople, musicians, and even reality television stars. Some mega-influencers have gained their vast followings through their online and social activities.

Macro-influencers: One step down from the mega-influencers, and maybe more accessible as influencer marketers. You would consider people with followers in the range between 40,000 and 1 million followers on a social network to be macro-influencers. This group tends to consists of two types of people. They are either B-grade celebrities, who haven’t yet made it to the big time. Or they are successful online experts, who have built up more significant followings than the typical micro-influencers.

Micro-influencers: Ordinary everyday people who have become known for their knowledge about some specialist niche. As such, they have usually gained a sizable social media following amongst devotees of that niche. Of course, it is not just the number of followers that indicates a level of influence; it is the relationship and interaction that a micro-influencer has with his or her followers. Although views differ, you could consider micro-influencers as having between 1,000 and 40,000 followers on a single social platform.

So, now that we’ve defined the difference in the types of influencer you can see how a growing Micro-influencer needs the space and outlets to be able to grow. We base our growth on selling something or influencing you to want something, based on the niche we’ve chosen. There are a few places out there we post on that allow us the capability to share what we are selling or influencing for a follower to be able to repeatedly return to and look at what we are discussing. The most popular sight out there presently in 2022 is LTK “Like to know it” formerly rewards style. The sight allows the influencer to create grids of products widgets they’ve chosen to share and create a page to link for followers to come back to with direct shoppable links to each store the item is coming from, as well as many other great perks. This page was created by a influencer themself. That being said there is a lot of confusion on how hard it is to join them all the sudden. The claim to be by invitation only now… sending out denial letters that look like this,

We’ve carefully reviewed your application, and unfortunately your request to become an LTK Creator  was not accepted at this time

So how do you become an LTK Creator? You’ll need: 

• A public social media profile, with consistent posts and activity
• A significant and engaged following on at least one social media channel
• At least 3 months of original, high-quality, shoppable content
• Clean editorial design that engages your audience and highlights your expertise
• The determination to make your unique content shoppable

This decision is a reflection of the intense competition for admission, and does not detract from the impressive credentials you’ve submitted. We encourage you to continue publishing shoppable content, and apply again in the three months.

So, why I’d like to know if this site was created by an influencer… if so, then why so  hard to get on? Why are they so picky? Did they forget what it’s like to grow? Apparently, they’ve became so big their popularity, it’s has gone to their head.  They forgot what it means to need that space to be able to become all the things they are claiming to need to be before they will except you. The only site that I know of that exists and is anything close to LTK is Shop Style Collect.  They are very easy to join!  They only ask that you have a Facebook, Instagram business or creator page and that based on you followers they will place you into the basic or advanced program the offer.
